Harpreet Singh (born December 20, 1990), known professionally as Happy Singh, is an American rapper, singer, music producer, and songwriter. His journey has been one of transformation and growth.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Happy Singh discovered his love for music at an early age when he was introduced to hip-hop. Since then, he has honed his skills and worked hard to master every aspect of music. His distinct flare and ability attracted the attention of influencers in the entertainment world, and began his journey as a producer and writer for other artists. For example, Happy was a songwriter for actor Mathew Noszka (an upcoming artist under CEO of Murder Ink Records, Irv Gotti). Soon, however, he decided to focus on growing as an artist himself, and started producing and writing his own unique records. His talent was soon recognized by his peers and he was able to open for artists like Tyga, Jeremiah, and Yo Gotti, among others.

Personal Life
Happy Singh was raised in a Punjabi family in the US, and was able to successfully connect his American and Indian background. Mostly influenced by his grandfather, Happy learned his native language – Punjabi – to ensure that he never forgot his roots. Incorporating both American and Punjabi culture in his life, Happy Singh made sure to embrace dance and music from both regions. At age 7, he was exposed to bhangra, a traditional dance originating from the Indian state of Punjab. Later at age 10, Happy learned how to play and master the dhol, a double-sided barrel drum often used in Indian music. At age 12, Happy joined his middle school band where he played drums. Despite not knowing how to read musical notes, he was placed in an intermediate level class for band due to his skills. Teachers and family realized Happy’s gift for music, and wholeheartedly supported and cultivated his talent. During his adolescent years, Happy spent most of his time helping his parents run their family restaurant in Lancaster, California, but his passion for music stayed strong. So, after several years of helping his family, Happy decided it was time to pursue his music career full-time

Breakthroughs
One often has to face darkness before one sees light. In 2004, Happy Singh was introduced to alcohol, which opened the doors to addiction. At age 17, Happy started drinking daily, while also abusing drugs like cocaine, ecstasy, molly (a pure form of MDMA) and marijuana. Under the influence of such potent drugs, bad decisions caused Happy to get in trouble with the law, time and time again. At one point of his life, he was on 3 different types of probations and faced 10 years in jail! However, his skilled lawyers were able to get Happy a reduced sentence. At age 23, Happy was introduced to Methamphetamine, making it his darkest times and caused a spiral downward, where he frequently ended up in the ER due to hypertension, anxiety, and paranoia.

Thankfully, Happy was strong-willed and chose to change his life. April 22, 2016 was a turning point for him. On that day, Happy made the best decision of his life, and decided to “cold turkey” all of his addictions. He realized that he did not want to live a life dependent on substances. After finding spirituality and religion, Happy promised to start living a sober life. The only addiction he needed was music – a gift that brought him back to a path of joy.

Present
Happy Singh has decided to use his platform in the entertainment world to bring awareness to the dangers of drug abuse. He hopes to guide and show the new generation how to live in sobriety, while making good choices, having fun, and staying ‘happy’! Happy aspires to focus on social problems that are overlooked and to bring them increased awareness.
